An Evening with Walter Iooss

While the world has all eyes on the Olympics and celebrates the athletes competing at the highest level, TPPA celebrates the greatness of Walter Iooss.  Walter has captured some of the most iconic images in the world of sport.

His work in Sports Illustrated includes such familiar names as Jordan, Ali, Montana, LaBron, Tiger, Griffey, Kobe, Palmer, Serena, Namath, Jeter and the list goes on and on.

Get to know the man behind the images as Walter shares his career that spans over 60 years at work behind the camera.

Meet Walter Iooss

Walter grew up in East Orange, NJ, and attended East Orange High School.

He had his first paid assignment with Sports Illustrated just two weeks after graduation high school.

Walter has done thousands of shoots for Sports Illustrated with over 300 covers, 20 swimsuit shoots.  He has traveled the world doing advertising work, and in 1983, did a book titled, “Rare Air” with Michael Jordan which went to #1 on the New York Times bestseller list.

He is a photographer for life and now enjoy taking images of his grandchildren.
